BUAA Greetings

Dear BU Asian alumni friends,

It has been more than 6 months since we had the 2nd BU Asian Alumni Finance and Investment Forum in Beijing on January 18-19, 2008. But I feel as if it were yesterday. I still can remember every detail of the talks we exchanged in joy and excitement.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank President of BU Dr. Robert Brown, his wife Dr. Beverly Brown, and Vice President of BU Dr. Scott Nichols for coming all the way from Boston, and to congratulate Hugo Shong, Weiqiang Han, Vincent Wang, Wenjing Ding, Haidong Pan and Wei Jin on the successful inauguration of the BU Alumni Association China.

Furthermore, I was extremely grateful to the large group who supported the formation of the BU Asian Alumni Committee during the Beijing Forum. The representatives of BU Asian alumni associations from 11 countries have closely communicated with Henry Woo (CAS’99) to refine a set of objectives and mission statements for the Committee, while one of our Korean BU alumni, Jung Lee (MBA’02) has been working on the creation of a website.

Jung initiated development of the www.buasia.org website and it is now up and running online as of last week; he did this in the belief that it will help us become even closer to one another through more effective robust communications.

I strongly encourage you to join the website and express your ideas and suggestions on any issues you’d like to discuss with your BU alumni friends. This new website will enable us to reach out to our BU friends in the Pan-Asia region, and develop ONE BU community with all of us closely networked together. I look forward to meeting you often online.

Our BU Alum of China, Vincent Wang (MBA’06) claims that a well coordinated alumni network has the potential to become a unique truth filter to help our alumni achieve success in life, research and business; The earlier we realize its value, the better we will be able to cope with the challenges of the 21st century.

We have another fantastic gathering to look forward to in November. Tira Sirikietsoong (CLA79’) and our enthusaistic Alumni Association members of Thailand have been working hard to plan for what many are anticipating to be the most exciting Alumni festival yet. Let’s celebrate together at the 3rd BU Asian Alumni Festival Bangkok in November.
